- SHsheila harmsworth3 days ago5.0I was just visiting Poynton o’night and called in here for a dinner & drink. The lady in charge could not have been more helpful and was very kind. As a woman on my own I really appreciated that. Would call again.
- KSKevin Southon3 days ago5.0We had a lovely Sunday roast at The Boars Head and were very much looked after by Diane and the team. Alfie was very attentive with taking our order and ensuring a positive lunchtime for us all. We did pick a Sunday when there was no crackling available but the chef was great at putting together a tasty apple sauce to go with the generous tender slices of pork. He also stopped the bar food ready doorbell sound, which our two dashchunds reacted to (first time in a pub) so that was very thoughtful and definitely an advert for putting the customer first. Well done guys, we'll be back next time we're in Poynton. Many thanks, Kevin, Julie, Toffee and Tilly. 24th May 2026

Diane looked after them until we could get there to bring them back home to Glossop. Your kindness was really appreciated, thanks again x
- JIJay IOWMay 18, 20265.0Absolutely wonderful bar, the stuff were super friendly and the food was just the hearty pub food Ive been after. They are super dog friendly with treats for the dogs and the option to sit in or outside. Its in a great location for a long walk along the canal or a play in the park with the dogs. I suggest parking up the canal a bit and walk along side the canal. Stop off at the pub and then head. back along the old railway line. I've added a picture to show the walk I went on. I stuck to the left side of the canal.

We were told that it’s not possible to add tips to card payments; in an era where ever fewer people carry cash, this penalises the hard working staff and has to stop
